OUR PROGRAM

Training Programs

We provide comprehensive training for volunteers, university students, youth, and secondary school students, focusing on geoscience and the application of geospatial technology for mapping natural disasters, climate change adaptation, environmental monitoring, and biodiversity conservation in Timor-Leste. Our mission is to contribute to a future for Timor-Leste where a new generation of creative and highly skilled youth are empowered with expertise in utilizing geospatial technology to address the country’s challenges and opportunities.

Mapping Programs

G-SIG's core focus lies in conducting research and mapping natural disasters in Timor-Leste, leveraging advanced geospatial technology and open-source software for geospatial solutions. We actively collaborate with volunteer organizations in research and mapping initiatives. Furthermore, we partner with international agencies on humanitarian efforts, providing digital mapping services for disaster response activities and monitoring the impacts of climate change and drought through a dedicated Digital Mapping Platform.

QGIS & ARCGIS Programs

The field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) remains relatively new in Timor-Leste. Our efforts are dedicated to advancing the development and application of GIS within the country. Through our programs, we aspire to empower our young people and individuals in Timor-Leste to utilize GIS technology for mapping areas of interest or significance. This initiative aims to provide Timor-Leste with accurate and up-to-date data to support informed decision-making by policymakers and relevant institutions.
