Community Participatory Mapping – DRP Bobonaro

Community Participatory Mapping is an initiative of Participatory on Map led by G-SIG in collaboration with several partner organizations, including World Vision Timor-Leste, the Youth Climate Justice Fund, the Open Mapping Hub Asia-Pacific, and AHP agencies in Timor-Leste. This initiative aims to strengthen local community engagement in digital mapping through the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) technology and to enhance community knowledge and awareness of the impacts of natural disasters and climate change through the development and use of digital maps. The example presented below is a disaster risk map developed jointly by G-SIG and World Vision Timor-Leste in Bobonaro Municipality. This map contributes to strengthening community-based early warning systems and supports communities in monitoring disaster risks within their villages and sucos through the use of mobile applications.
